Liverpool have completed the signing of highly-rated goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans from Belgian side KRC Genk in a deal worth up to £30 million.
The 18-year-old has signed a six-year contract with the Reds but will remain at Genk on loan for the 2026/27 season before moving to Anfield ahead of the following campaign.
Liverpool will pay an initial £28.3m for Brughmans, with a further £1.7m available in add-ons. The transfer makes him the most expensive goalkeeper to leave the Jupiler Pro League and one of the division’s biggest-ever sales.
Standing at 6ft 7in, Brughmans has quickly established himself as one of Belgium’s brightest young goalkeeping prospects. After making 32 appearances for Genk’s reserve side, he made his senior debut in April 2026 and retained his place for the remainder of the season, adding 10 league appearances.
He has also started all four of Genk’s matches this term.
At international level, Brughmans captained Belgium at both the Under-17 European Championship and World Cup in 2025 and now leads the country’s Under-19s.
