According to O Jogo, Milan are open to loaning Santiago Giménez to Porto until the end of the season, with a purchase option around 20 million euros and minimal costs beyond wages. Porto have not yet opened formal talks, but the striker is understood to be willing to move to Portugal.
The structure suits Porto’s board, reducing upfront spend and allowing time to assess the 25-year-old’s fit with Farioli’s ideas and his output. It would also let the club gauge Samu’s response once he returns from injury.
Lazio, who had made Giménez a priority, have largely stepped away, leaving a clearer path for Porto. Gennaro Gattuso voiced dissatisfaction when discussing the matter, stressing he wants only players eager to be at Lazio and that he will not try to convince anyone, a stance seen as a hint the forward is not pushing for a move to Rome.
It is also claimed that Porto and Giménez have already agreed financial and contractual terms. The next step would be to contact Milan with a formal proposal, which has not yet happened.
Mediation is set to be handled by Raul Pais da Costa of AS1, the agent of Rúben Amorim. The Portuguese window closes on four September, but Porto must complete deals earlier to meet the 23:59 deadline on two September for Champions League registration.
