Milan are attempting a late swoop for 20-year-old Troyes defender Sankhoun Diawara, who had seemed on the verge of joining Glasgow Rangers.
According to Footmercato in France, the Rossoneri are getting involved and trying to poach the youngster from under the noses of the Scottish club.
His contract with Troyes only runs to the end of the season, making the centre-back a great opportunity on the transfer market.
It had been suggested that Diawara was on the verge of completing the move to Rangers, and they do have one significant advantage in that they are trying to bring him in for their senior squad.
On the other hand, Milan would officially sign the 20-year-old for their Under-23 squad, which plays its football in Serie D.
He might be given an opportunity to impress coach Ruben Amorim in training, though, especially if Milan manage to sell Fikayo Tomori.
Diawara is a very tall centre-back who can also play on the left, and is left-footed.
He is a product of the Troyes youth academy and represented France at Under-19 level.
