Milan have found a solution for one of their outcasts, as Christopher Nkunku is headed back to RB Leipzig on loan. The player had a few alternatives, including Newcastle United and Turkish destinations, but he picked his former team, Mediaset reported.
The Rossoneri will pocket €3.5M right away, and the deal envisages an option to buy close to €30M. The attacker leaves San Siro just a year after being acquired for €37M from Chelsea. He totaled 8 goals and 3 assists in 40 appearances in 2025/2026. However, he mostly converted PKs and saw regular minutes only when Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao were hurt.
After getting rid of Nkunku, Milan are working on parting ways with Youssouf Fofana, Fikayo Tomori, and Rafael Leao. The first two have been excluded from their plans, while the Portuguese star would stay without a convincing offer.
Rather than to Juventus, the Rossoneri wish to send the pair to the Premier League. Aston Villa showed some interest in the defender but haven’t lodged a bid at this stage. Instead, Nottingham Forest are keen on the Frenchman. If there are more exits, the officials could further add to the squad and would go for a no.10 and a defender.
The success of the operation involving the first one solely hinges on whether he’ll be retained, as that sum would allow them to avoid a big loss. He’d have to show out for that to happen, but perhaps being in familiar stomping grounds will help. If they make room and Leao stays, a center-back would be needed more than an inventive midfielder, as Alphadjo Cissé should definitely have a fairly secure spot in their rotation.
