Milan are delighted with the growth of Davide Bartesaghi this season, as he’s severely outplayed newcomer Pervis Estupinan, but his contract extension can wait, while they are reflecting on what to do with Francesco Camarda, who didn’t have a great spell at Lecce and will miss months due to shoulder surgery, Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto report (via Tuttomercatoweb).
The wing-back has been linked with a renewal, but the process is still ongoing. It’ll likely come to fruition only near the end of the season. The youngster will remain an integral part of the squad despite the interest from a few Premier League clubs. He’s already tied to them until 2030, but earned a pay rise on the pitch.
While Bartesaghi has established himself at Milan, Camarda hasn’t managed to do so at Lecce. He hit the net once in 19 showings before getting hurt. The two clubs discussed his return to San Siro in January, but they couldn’t come to terms after concocting convoluted bonuses and incentives last summer.
The Rossoneri will take stock next summer. They want to play him consistently elsewhere before keeping him on their roster. However, they might contemplate a permanent sale for the right price.
The former has been impressive and has the right traits to balance out their formation, given Alexis Saelemaekers’ gravitas on the other wing. The striker has struggled, but was in a team whose offense is an eye sore. Unless they get bowled over by a bid, which is unlikely, it’s way too early to move on from him. They just have to choose his next destination more carefully. Perhaps he should cut his teeth in Serie B for a couple of years.
