Gianluca Di Marzio has now reported that the move may not be as close as it was first thought. Milan have made an initial offer for the centre-back through Gila’s agent Alejandro Camano. But this was rejected firmly by Lazio.

The agent was in Rome today to meet Lazio but this didn’t lead to any decisive progress in the deal. But soon, the parties will meet again, amidst belief that Milan will have to come closer to Lazio’s demand of €30 million to stand a chance at signing the player.

Milan right to start low

Gila’s current deal at Lazio runs out in 2027. This suggests it is sensible from Milan to start with a lower offer to test Lazio’s resolve.

The Roman side, in the meantime, have used interest from other clubs to demand as much as they can and it has clearly worked.
