Another matchweek in the Roshn Saudi League, another spectacular overhead-kick.
Where Cristiano Ronaldo and Kingsley Coman have gone before, this time it was Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, the Al Hilal midfielder equalising for the RSL leaders at home to Al Fayha on Thursday night with an incredible effort.
From there, Al Hilal went on to emerge 4-1 victors, a 13th successive league win extending their advantage at the summit once more to seven points.
Ronaldo’s Al Nassr and red-hot Ivan Toney’s Al Ahli represent their closest challengers, while surging Al Qadsiah are one point further back, Pericles Chamusca's defiant Al Taawoun another.
But Al Hilal, last champions in record-breaking fashion in 2023-24, are the team to beat at the moment. And, as have become the norm, Milinkovic-Savic is at their heart.
With another dazzling display, the Serbia international hogged the headlines thanks to the standout goal of an already-impressive Al Hilal career.
What's more, for a man who cites Ajax and AC Milan great Zlatan Ibrahimovic as his footballing hero, the 37th-minute overhead-kick that cancelled out Fashion Sakala’s shock opener at Kingdom Arena resonated particularly fondly.
“He's my idol,” Milinkovic-Savic smiled. “I like his mentality; I like his confidence. Of course, this goal was not so easy; I didn't expect that I will shoot so good.
“But, yeah, happy that I scored a goal in that way and it is similar to his goals.”
Not that Milinkovic-Savic expected to channel his inner Ibrahimovic.
“No, like the goal today, for sure I didn't score before," he said. "It’s not easy to score a goal like this, especially for me that I'm [so] tall. But today I did it. Let's see if I will do one time again.”
