Millwall boss Neil hails his side’s ‘complete performance’ in win over Norwich – but confirms major injury blow | OneFootball

Millwall manager Alex Neil praised his side’s “complete performance” in their convincing 3-0 Championship victory over Norwich City.

A double from Tairyk Arconte and late strike from Luke Cundle handed the Lions all three points at The Den.

“I thought it was a complete performance from us,” Neil said.

“That was the most complete performance I think we’ve had since I’ve been here.

“There are a couple of reasons why I’m saying that. To do it with four new lads who we’ve recruited in the summer, to do it against a good Norwich team who are well coached, who have got good players, and to do it in the manner in which we did it.

“We were the best team from minute one to the last minute.”

However, the victory was soured by an injury setback for experienced midfielder Ryan Leonard.

The 34-year-old missed the matchday squad after starting Millwall’s previous game against Bristol City, with Neil revealing Leonard had suffered a hamstring problem.

“It’s a strange one again,” Neil added.

“We’d trained on a Tuesday. Didn’t report anything. Had played; all the rest of everything was fine.

“Wednesday evening, he then sent Gaz [head of medical Garry Hemens] a text just saying, ‘My hamstring feels a little bit tight’.

“Came in the next day, got a scan; he’s got an injury.”

Asked about a potential return date for Leonard, Neil admitted the midfielder is set for a spell on the sidelines.

“It’s not going to be soon,” he said.
