Sunderland’s focus has shifted to the summer market, with fresh developments on Anthony Patterson and renewed interest in Victor Munoz.

A bruising week saw defeat at Aston Villa after levelling from 3-1 before Tammy Abraham’s stoppage-time winner, then a heavy loss to Nottingham Forest. The Black Cats trailed 4-0 inside 37 minutes before Elliot Anderson struck after the break.

The arrival of Robin Roefs limited Patterson’s minutes, so he joined Millwall on loan in January. He has kept five clean sheets in 13 Championship appearances, helping the Lions stay in the promotion race.

ChronicleLive reports that Millwall are exploring keeping Patterson for 2026/27, a return that could hinge on Premier League promotion. Elsewhere, Championship winners Coventry City are understood to be monitoring him amid uncertainty over Brighton loanee Carl Rushworth, with Hull City and West Brom also credited with interest.

On the flanks, turnover has been high. Simon Adingra left for Monaco in January only months after arriving, and Nilson Angulo came from Anderlecht as cover.

AS states that Sunderland are again looking at Munoz, with Osasuna bracing for bids this summer from Wearside and other Premier League clubs. Osasuna are not expected to move from a release clause believed to be around €40m, £34.7m, and Real Madrid hold a buyback clause that could yet shape his future.
