Mirassol must pay R$ 2 million to field Tiquinho Soares against Santos on 10 May at 21:30 at José Maria de Campos Maia, in the fifth round of the Brasileirão. The striker is on loan from Santos, so a clause applies for meetings with his parent club.

According to Diario Do Peixe, the loan runs until the end of the year.

Lacking opportunities at Santos, the player’s representatives and the club discussed a termination but failed to reach an amicable agreement. The centre-forward asked to leave and was willing to forgo almost half of what he was due from the Alvinegro, yet the board sought more and talks stalled.

He is now expected to play for the interior São Paulo side in search of minutes, and Santos will pay a large share of his wages.

This year he missed the start with a calf oedema and trained separately. After recovering, he was on the bench against São Paulo in the league, then was not even named in recent squads. He also lost the No 9 shirt after Gabigol’s arrival.

Signed in January 2025 in a linked deal with Botafogo as defender Jair moved to the Rio club, Tiquinho agreed a contract through 2027. At Botafogo he made 120 appearances, scored 44 goals and provided 17 assists, and was a key figure in the 2024 Brasileirão and Libertadores titles.

For Santos, the 35-year-old has 9 goals and 4 assists in 43 matches.
