MK Dons are weighing up a summer loan move for Sunderland goalkeeper Matty Young.
According to Alan Nixon, the League Two promotion hopefuls have been casting an eye over the 19-year-old and could make an approach at the end of the season.
The Sunderland academy graduate is enjoying a fine spell with Salford City, who are chasing a play-off berth in the fourth tier. After a stint there last season, he rejoined in the summer and has since become Karl Robinson’s first choice, recording nine clean sheets in 34 outings in all competitions.
Speaking in July, Young said he knew his capabilities and had set high standards, aiming to be the best keeper in the league. He felt expectations had risen and believed Salford would push for automatic promotion or, if not, the play-offs.
Paul Warne’s side would be keen on a deal if they can clinch promotion to League One, with the expectation that his parent club’s Premier League status limits a near-term breakthrough at the Stadium of Light.
