Henrikh Mkhitaryan has published his autobiography and reveals why he almost made the move from Roma to Inter a year earlier, but was forced to wait.
The Italian edition was published today, titled ‘My Life In The Middle,’ and some excerpts were released from his career path.
The former Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United, Arsenal and Roma midfielder was coming to the end of his contract at the Stadio Olimpico in May 2021.
As a free agent, he had several options open to him, but was asked to hold fire and show patience for one destination.

“I had spoken to Inter director Piero Ausilio just before the draw with Spezia, so I was already in Montecarlo on vacation,” Mkhitaryan wrote in his book.
“He said that they wanted me to join them in Milan, I thanked him for the show of support, but that over the next few days I had to decide whether to continue at Roma or not.”
Ausilio then warned that before Inter could afford to sign him as a free agent, they first had to sell two players, specifically Romelu Lukaku and Achraf Hakimi.
Mkhitaryan expressed concern that if this took too long, he might be left high and dry without a club, but was asked to have a little patience.
“I’d rather not, I don’t want to run the risk of being left without Roma and without you too, in case you failed to sell those two players.
“I’ll tell you what, I will stay at Roma for another year, and then we’ll talk about it next year.”
That did prove to be the case, as Mkhitaryan made the transfer to Inter in 2022.
