Recent updates from Fichajes reveal that Charlotte FC and New York City FC have both made formal offers for Real Madrid defender David Alaba.
Each club is reportedly willing to pay around $2 million to secure the Austrian international in January.
It must be noted that Alaba has a contract with Real Madrid until the end of the season, but his future at the Bernabeu has grown increasingly uncertain.
The defender’s recurring injuries and high annual salary, estimated at €22.5 million, have prompted the club to reconsider keeping him on the payroll.
Real Madrid’s sporting directorate is now seriously evaluating the proposals from the United States.
The primary motivation is not to generate significant transfer income but to free up salary space and allow for new signings in the upcoming months.

The club believes that the deal could move quickly if Alaba himself agrees. While the transfer fee may seem modest, the financial relief would be substantial and offer Real Madrid greater flexibility in planning winter acquisitions.
For Alaba, a move to Major League Soccer could be an appealing next step. At 33, he may welcome a fresh challenge in a less intense environment while continuing to play at a high level.
Both Charlotte FC and New York City FC are keen to strengthen their defensive lines with experience and leadership, qualities Alaba brings in abundance.
His versatility and international pedigree make him an ideal fit for the American league.
From Real Madrid’s perspective, facilitating his departure, even potentially without a transfer fee, could help balance the club’s finances and make room for new talent.
As such, Xabi Alonso’s coaching staff is also likely to support the move, aiming to maintain a leaner squad for the second half of the season.
