With the World Cup about to enter the semifinals. France became the first nation to qualify. However, on the other side of the US, the MLS has been moving despite the international tournament.
A few months ago, MLS Multiplex highlighted the first eleven players selected for the prestigious MLS All-Star Game.
Now, the official Major League Soccer website has announced the complete roster of players set to participate in the event.
As audiences are constantly changing, it's appropriate to briefly explain what the MLS All-Star Game is all about.
The MLS All-Star Game is an annual midseason exhibition match that brings together the best players in Major League Soccer. In recent years, the format has consisted of a matchup against a team of Liga MX (Mexico) all-stars. Although sometimes it’s against a big European club, that is not happening right now.
To clarify, this year’s MLS All-Star team will face off against the Liga MX All-Stars. The event is held on July 29 at Charlotte FC's Bank of America Stadium.
Players are selected for this event in three ways. First, players can be voted in by fans, players, and media. The second one is by Coache’s selection, meaning that it is chosen directly by the MLS All-Star head coach (this year, Dean Smith of Charlotte FC).
The final method is the commissioner’s pick, where MLS Commissioner Don Garber personally selects players for the roster. Usually, two players are chosen this way.
Now that we have finished discussing the definition of this event, let’s stop wasting your time and present the 29 players who will play.
