Nice lost Mohamed-Ali Cho and Melvin Bard to injury at half-time of Friday’s play-off second leg against Saint-Étienne. Both were unable to resume after first-half knocks.

According to L'Équipe, Nice hoped referee Mr Buquet would show a red card for Dennis Appiah’s stamp on Bard’s left ankle in 45+2, but he is understood to have viewed it as a challenge between two players. As Bard stayed down, Cho was also in discomfort.

Moments earlier, Cho had seemingly suffered a late tackle by Pedro to the foot. Escorted by a member of Nice’s medical staff at the interval, he did not re-emerge.

Kaïl Boudache replaced him at the restart.

Bard also failed to return, coming back with a large ice pack strapped to his ankle. Sofiane Diop took his place, with Tom Louchet dropping into the left wing-back role.
