An adviser to Wolfsburg forward Mohamed Amoura says he is close to joining RB Leipzig, with negotiations described as advanced, Maghreb Foot reports. However, Sky Germany says there is no imminent agreement and talks are not at an advanced stage.
Amoura, 26, is an Algeria international and currently the most valuable player in the 2. Bundesliga.
Leipzig are seeking further attacking depth and have looked at options such as Hoffenheim’s Fisnik Asllani, who is also attracting interest from Barcelona. The club could also consider parting with Denmark forward Conrad Harder after a difficult first Bundesliga campaign.
Leipzig should have funds for a major attacking addition following Yan Diomande’s proposed move to Real Madrid.
Amoura offers flexibility, able to operate through the middle or from the left. He is currently dealing with a thigh problem and is expected to miss Wolfsburg’s 2. Bundesliga opener against 1. FC Kaiserslautern.
A departure has appeared likely since Wolfsburg’s relegation. Interest from elsewhere has been consistent, though previous talks with other clubs did not lead to a move. With the latest reports contradicting each other, any switch to Leipzig remains uncertain.
