Liverpool lost 3-0 to Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday afternoon – their sixth defeat in their last seven Premier League games.
Mohamed Salah made his 300th appearance for the reigning champions, but it was an afternoon to forget for him and his teammates.
Liverpool dominated possession early on and nearly took the lead when Alexis Mac Allister’s goal-bound effort was headed off the line by Eliott Anderson.
Milos Kerkez missed a golden chance to reward the hosts for their bright start, blazing over the top.
Murillo broke the deadlock, taking advantage of Liverpool’s failure to deal with a corner by slamming the ball into the bottom corner.
Moments later, Igor Jesus thought he had given the visitors a two-goal cushion, but his effort was ruled out for handball.
Forest made it 2-0 just after the break as Nicolo Savona fired beyond goalkeeper Alisson Becker after receiving a cutback from Nico Williams.
Liverpool’s first sight of goal came after the hour mark when Salah worked himself into a good position, but he dragged his effort wide.
Dominik Szoboszlai forced Matz Sels to produce his first save after the break, but Forest added to their tally at the other end with Morgan Gibbs-White putting the ball home from a rebound.
Liverpool have now lost six of their 12 league games this season and are already out of the title race.
