Mohamed Sanhadji, a trusted figure around France’s national team, is being investigated for suspected abuse of his role, amid claims he helped Jamel Debbouze’s son into a sought-after Clairefontaine camp in return for a Moroccan stay.

According to L'Équipe, Debbouze approached Sanhadji in June 2023 to secure his son a place on the prestigious Clairefontaine programme.

During their exchanges, Sanhadji said he seldom took holidays and wanted to discover Morocco, a remark the comedian acted upon.

Once the place was obtained and the trip arranged, Debbouze invited him to his riad in Morocco, where Sanhadji is said to have had a private driver and a buggy to cross the desert.

A well-informed source said this relationship led to Debbouze being interviewed by police, with no charges brought against him at this stage.
