AS Monaco are reportedly stepping up their efforts to sign Frosinone’s Farès Ghedjemis (23), according to L’Équipe.
A priority target for the principality club, the Algerian player is said to have seen an initial offer, valued at €7m (plus €2m in bonuses), rejected by I Canarini. The setback is unlikely, however, to dampen Monaco’s enthusiasm, as they are already planning to submit a second bid in the coming days.
Celtic and Rangers, who are also interested, have likewise been rebuffed by the Italian club, which did not respond to their bids, which were in the region of €10m. The winger, for his part, is believed to be keen on the idea of joining Ligue 1.
Having played for Vannes and FC Rouen, Ghedjemis joined Frosinone three years ago, gradually establishing himself as a key member of the Lazio squad. Voted Serie B Player of the Season last term, the Algerian stood out by scoring 15 goals and providing three assists in 37 league appearances. It was these performances, in particular, that convinced Vladimir Petković to take him to the United States to compete in the World Cup with the Fennecs.
