Monaco weigh late exits for Cabral, Golovin and Balogun before PSG | OneFootball

AS Monaco are managing several outgoing dossiers with windows in Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Russia still open, before facing Paris Saint-Germain tonight at 21:05. The focus is on Folarin Balogun, Pape Cabral and Aleksandr Golovin, as the club seek to trim a wage bill monitored by the DNCG.

According to Nice-Matin, Balogun has been left out of Monaco’s UEFA Europa Conference League squad and the club have not ruled out a sale this summer, after his proposed move to Everton fell through late on Tuesday when he declined to sign. The report adds that Cabral would prefer to stay if his transfer collapses, having extended his contract this summer to 2031.

Cabral had been set to join Al Ahli for 10 million euros plus 2 million in bonuses and a 15% sell-on clause on Thursday morning. His future is now uncertain after Al Ahli dismissed their sporting director on Thursday night, the official who had concluded the deal, and talks between the clubs were continuing on Friday with the Saudi window closing on Sunday.

Golovin could still depart before the Russian deadline on 10 September, with a sale expected to fetch 20 to 25 million euros. Spartak Moscow and Zenit remain in the hunt and discussions are due to continue over the weekend.

The French window shut on Tuesday, and Monaco do not currently envisage selling other young players after the Cabral episode. With Türkiye’s window shutting this evening, any further exit would need to be swift.
