Monaco winger and former Belgian U21 international called up for DR Congo national team | OneFootball

Belgium look set to have lost another of their youth players to another national team. Monaco winger Stanis Idumbo has represent Belgium at youth level but now looks set to switch his allegiance to the DR Congo ahead of the start of the Leopards qualification campaign for next summer’s Africa Cup of Nations. In recent seasons, a number of players, such as Konstantinos Karetsas and Jorthy Mokio have opted to represent other nations instead of Belgium.

Idumbo has played for Belgium at U21, U19, U18 and U17 level. He began his career in the Ajax system before joining Sevilla in 2024. As a teenager, Idumbo played 18 games for Sevilla before joining Monaco last summer. Last season, Idumbo played 12 games for Monaco, scoring once and providing one assist. So far this season he has seen more opportunities coming his way already, having played three games in Ligue 1. Idumbo scored the winning goal as Monaco beat PSG at the beginning of September.
