Folarin Balogun (23) has not featured since the start of December. The USMNT forward suffered a dislocated shoulder during the match away to Stade Rennais in October before making a return at the end of November. However, he suffered a relapse with the feeling in the affected shoulder not quite right. The injury was aggravated against Olympique de Marseille at the start of December and the decision was taken to operate on the injury.
Balogun has now made his return to first-team training, participating in his first session on Wednesday. Whilst he will not be involved against Toulouse FC this weekend, Adi Hütter stated that the forward may be involved against SCO Angers the following week. No risks will be taken, however, and his return may yet have to wait until after the upcoming international break.
Aleksandr Golovin (28) is also nearing a return. The Russian playmaker, unlike Balogun, is yet to make his return to first-team training, however, Hütter has hypothesised that he could be involved, either against Angers next week, or against OGC Nice upon the return from the international break. Vanderson missed training on Wednesday, however, there is no concern surrounding the Brazilian, whose workload is simply being managed after two intense sessions on Monday and Tuesday.
