AS Monaco have received yet another injury blow in their midfield. Lamine Camara (21) is the latest player to face an extended period on the sidelines.
Prior to Saturday’s 3-1 defeat to FC Lorient, Monaco manager Adi Hutter said that the club were considering the recruitment of a “joker” or a free agent in order to compensate for the absences in their midfield.
At the time, Les Monégasques were already without Denis Zakaria, Aleksandr Golovin, Aladji Bamba, and Paul Pogba. The latter has yet to make his debut for the Principality club, however, he is nearing a return to competitive action.
But just before the match against Lorient, Camara was the latest to be struck by injury. The Senegal international has suffered an ankle sprain, and post-match, Hutter revealed that the player would be out for “nearly two months”.
Against Les Merlus, it was the inexperienced Mamadou Coulibaly who started alongside Jordan Teze, a right-back by trade, in the midfield. With some season-defining fixtures coming up in the coming weeks, recruitment in this sector now looks necessary.
