Newly signed Mamelodi Sundowns winger Monnapule Saleng has reflected on his impressive debut in their Betway Premiership win against Sekhukhune United over the weekend.
The 27-year-old was snapped from title rivals Orlando Pirates in the January transfer window after spending the first round of the campaign with former club Orbit College on loan.
Saleng made immediate impact as he entered the fray in the closing 10 minutes to set-up Iqraam Rayners, who restored Sundowns' lead in the 3-1 victory.
The former Free State Stars talisman expressed gratitude to head coach Miguel Cardoso for an opportunity to play, teammates for the support and the Masandawana faithful for the reception.
“First of all, let me say thanks to the technical team coaches and also the players. The preparation was good since training and coming to the game, and let me thank the coach for giving me the opportunity to play today [Sunday],” Saleng told Sundowns media.
"It made me feel welcomed, it's been a while since they've seen me play, so I was happy and I appreciate the reception from the supporters. I'd also like to thank the captain, Themba Zwane, and all of the players for encouraging me in training.
"I just want us to continue winning, that's the only thing I want us to do, that's the most important thing. It feels good for me because this is a team that always strives to win. I'm happy to be able to contribute amongst the three goals that we scored. It shows that I also have something to offer to the team.
Meanwhile, Sundowns are level on 41 points with log leaders Pirates, ahead of their clash against Golden Arrows in their next Betway Premiership outing at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday.
