With Ligue 2 still undecided, Montpellier remain in the hunt for the top five and host the league leaders at La Mosson, aiming to extend a home unbeaten run that dates to early January. Their last defeat there was 1-3 against Dunkerque on 5 January. Off the pitch, president Laurent Nicollin has signalled he could open the club to outside investment.
"I am ready to let go of the helm," said president Laurent Nicollin. He told Midi Libre there have been "four or five" approaches from potential investors via the mandated bank, Case Cassiopea. "I think that by mid May we should see more clearly and have concrete offers."
"Whether the stake is 10%, 30%, 50%, 60% or 80%, we will see what they are prepared to propose and to give," he said. "With my brother, we are at a time of choices."
The club has been in the Nicollin family since November 1974, after Loulou Nicollin’s purchase, and remains so for now, though that could change.
Head coach Zoumana Camara urged focus on the pitch. "We must concentrate on the last six matches, starting with the first at home against Troyes," he said on Thursday.
He added that the squad cannot influence any sale beyond delivering results, so the priority is sporting matters.
