More problems? Kimmich will miss Bayern’s Super Cup dress rehearsal

FC Bayern will face its final tough test on Tuesday ahead of its first competitive match against BVB, which is scheduled for Saturday. The opponent is 1. FC Heidenheim at 6 p.m.

During the match, several players from the record-holding champions will get valuable playing time to find their rhythm. FC Bayern struggled with the aftereffects of the World Cup during preseason, and some players didn’t start training until later.

Harry Kane, Michael Olise, and Dayot Upamecano, for example, have trained with the full squad only once so far. That’s one of the reasons the friendly against Heidenheim was scheduled.

Kimmich likely won’t play against Heidenheim

However, another player will be missing: Joshua Kimmich. The Bayern midfielder trained today, Tuesday, at Säbener Straße—just like Joao Palhinha, who may be on the verge of a transfer. Also on the field were Manuel Neuer, Lennart Karl—who is expected to resume full training with the team soon—and Konrad Laimer, who took a knock against Leipzig over the weekend.

According to information from BILD, it was noticeable that Kimmich was doing sprints at varying intensities, occasionally reaching for his adductor area. It seems Kimmich had some issues, but they weren’t severe enough to prevent him from training on the field. So it doesn’t look like he’s in top shape.

Whether his appearance in Saturday’s Super Cup against BVB is in doubt remains to be seen in the coming days. Bayern will likely want to avoid taking any risks ahead of their Bundesliga opener against Stuttgart on August 28.
