More right-back problems for Valencia as Rubo Iranzo suffers injury | OneFootball

Valencia's right-back headache deepened on Friday, Rubo Iranzo left training with an injury and will miss the friendly with CD Castellón. He will undergo tests on Saturday. Carlos Corberán is left with only Rodrigo Gamón available on that flank.

The defender suffered a heavy knock and, while the issue is not currently viewed as serious, he has not been ruled out of travelling to Birmingham for the third stage of pre-season. L’Equipe reports that Valencia have contacted free agent William Mikelbrencis, 22, the French right-back, who is also weighing proposals from Nice.

Iranzo's setback is the latest warning for a club already dealing with Thierry's contract expiry, the diagnosis of Foulquier's injury, Meunier walking away, and questions over no-cost alternatives.

Within the hierarchy there is not full agreement on Mikelbrencis, at least not as the sole reinforcement. His age would allow a B-team registration, and Valencia are short of shirt numbers between 1 and 25.

The plan is to bring in a more experienced right-back to start for Valencia.
