During Friday's press conference, Walid Regragui justified the repositioning of Brahim Diaz. With limited playing time at Real Madrid, Diaz could potentially regain his confidence by playing as a number 10—a role he hasn't filled since June 7, 2024, in the 2-1 win over Zambia, when he also provided an assist.

Speaking to the press on Thursday to announce his squad for the friendly against Bahrain (October 9) and the final 2026 World Cup qualifier against Congo (October 14) at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, Walid Regragui addressed the topic. "Regarding Brahim, I always expect more from him. (...) We already tested him a year ago in the number 10 role, just behind the striker. Even though many believe that's his ideal position—even at Real Madrid, he doesn't play as a 10—I think his best spot is on the wing, in a system closer to the box. (...) He's going through a tough spell due to the competition at Real. (...) I'm convinced he'll deliver on the pitch," explained the Moroccan coach.

This October, Morocco will play a friendly against Bahrain (October 9) and the final 2026 World Cup qualifier against Congo (October 14) at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
