Ismael Saibari is on the verge of joining FC Bayern. Morocco’s national team coach, Mohamed Ouahbi, has now commented on the matter.
Ismael Saibari’s impending move to FC Bayern is now also a topic of discussion for the Moroccan national team. The 25-year-old is reported to have already completed his medical exam for the Munich club in recent days and is thus on the verge of finalizing his transfer.
According to information from the AFP news agency, Saibari was absent from the Moroccan team’s training session on Tuesday. Instead, the attacking player is said to have undergone his medical examination for FC Bayern in the U.S. state of New Jersey. Although an official announcement of the transfer has yet to be made, the most significant hurdles appear to have been cleared.
Morocco’s national team coach, Mohamed Ouahbi, does not see the ongoing transfer speculation as a threat to his player’s focus. Ahead of the important World Cup group stage match against Scotland, the 49-year-old made it clear that Saibari is handling the situation professionally.
“We are very proud when Moroccan players get to play for big clubs like Bayern Munich,” Ouahbi explained. At the same time, he emphasized: “The player is handling it very calmly; he’s focused on playing for Morocco.”
FC Bayern also received positive feedback from the Moroccan national team coach. Ouahbi praised the Munich club for acting with restraint so far regarding the upcoming transfer.
The German record champions have not been “particularly aggressive” in their communication. “Of course, we have no influence over the timing, but so far it’s not official yet,” said Ouahbi.
The connection to Vincent Kompany is particularly interesting here. Ouahbi knows the Bayern coach from Belgium and assumes that Kompany correctly assesses the current situation with Morocco: “I think he understands that the priority right now is Morocco. But we’ll be very proud. We want the best Moroccan players to play for the best clubs.”

For Saibari, this is currently a time of important steps on two fronts. With Morocco, he’s fighting to advance to the knockout stage at the World Cup, while at the same time, his move to Munich is imminent.
On the field, the attacking player has already shown why Bayern is so eager to sign him. In the 1-1 draw against Brazil, Saibari scored the go-ahead goal and was one of the most prominent players on the field. Scotland’s coach, Steve Clarke, also warned about the Moroccan: “He’s fast, he’s strong,” Clarke said, adding, “And he showed against Brazil that he knows how to capitalize on chances.”
At FC Bayern, Saibari is expected to bolster the offense and give Vincent Kompany additional flexibility. The final formalities are already underway. Soon, Ismael Saibari will officially be a Bayern player.
