West Brom boss James Morrison has confirmed the club are close to signing Levante winger Kareem Tunde after their 3-2 Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle.
Morrison refused to discuss the deal in detail but indicated an announcement could be imminent.
“Yes, it’s close,” Morrison said. “I’ll talk about it when it’s done.”
The Baggies boss also explained the decision to allow Krystian Bielik to leave for Cardiff City, insisting the defender wanted more regular football.
“Personally, the club felt it was a good offer,” Morrison said.
“Krystian wanted to go and play some football.
“I love him as a player, I love him as a lad, but I had to respect that he wanted to go and play a lot of football.”
Morrison believes Bielik’s departure can also give West Brom an opportunity to strengthen other areas of the squad before the transfer window closes.
“We have four good centre-backs, but it gives us an opportunity to strengthen in areas that we want,” he added.
