According to a report from Foot Mercato, Olympique Lyonnais are in talks to sign Nottingham Forest defender Moussa Niakhaté (28).
Lyon are looking to strengthen their defence this summer ahead of their European campaign in the UEFA Europa League. As reported by Sky Sports News, Everton’s Ben Godfrey is an option being explored by Les Gones, with the media even reporting that a £10m bid had been lodged.
However, a new target has emerged – Niakhaté. The Senegal international played 24 times for Nottingham Forest last season and was a key part of their backline, however, due to FFP rules, the Premier League side must make some sales this summer. Niakhaté could therefore leave the club.
Lyon have been in talks for several days and they are advancing positively, to the extent that the centre-back could even take place on Friday. Niakhaté, who previously played for FC Metz, could therefore be set for a return to Ligue 1.
