L’Équipe understands that Moussa Sissoko (34) is set to leave FC Nantes, despite being offered a contract extension by Les Canaris.
Former France international Sissoko arrived at Nantes for a €2m fee back in the summer of 2022. Since arriving at the Beaujoire, he has made 72 appearances, including 28 last season. He helped FCN narrowly avoid relegation last season. In the wake of that success, if it can be termed as such, Antoine Kombouaré saw the need to refresh the squad.
The manager has openly stated that he is looking to offload many players within the squad, however, Sissoko was one player that he was hoping to keep. Nantes offered the former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder a contract extension, however, no agreement was found and he now looks set to leave on a free transfer.
The Athletic understands that Watford are looking to bring Sissoko back to Vicarage Road this summer. The Frenchman, who is now free to discuss a contract with other clubs, is taking time to reflect on his future.
