Divin Mubama’s brace helped England Under-21s maintain their perfect start to Euro 2027 qualifying with a commanding 4-0 win over Moldova in Chi?in?u.

The Young Lions were rarely troubled as they built on last month’s victory with another confident performance.

Jamie Bynoe-Gittens opened the scoring after 28 minutes, cutting inside and driving a low shot past Victor Dodon at the near post.

That settled any early nerves, and Lee Carsley’s side never looked back. Gittens remained a lively threat, while Jobe Bellingham and Tyler Dibling both came close to adding a second before the interval.

Moldova showed brief signs of life early in the second half, forcing James Beadle into a couple of routine saves, but England’s quality soon told. Mubama doubled the lead on 63 minutes after racing on to a precise through ball from Ethan Nwaneri, finishing coolly into the corner.

Just four minutes later, the West Ham forward was back on the scoresheet from the penalty spot after debutant Josh King was brought down by Vlad Pascari. Mubama switched feet before calmly sending the keeper the wrong way to make it 3-0.

With the result secure, Rico Lewis capped off the night in style, driving forward from deep and thumping in his first Under-21s goal a minute from time.

Carsley’s young side remain top of Group A and will aim to extend their perfect start when they face Andorra at Pride Park on 13 October.
