CARTAGO, Costa Rica – The 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup continued with CS Cartaginés playing to a scoreless draw against Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the first leg of their Round One series on Wednesday at Estadio Fello Meza, Cartago, Costa Rica.

Whitecaps FC ruled the first half with ten total shots, but CS Cartaginés goalkeeper Kevin Briceño played a big role with four saves in the first 45 minutes to keep terms level.

CS Cartaginés had a great chance to get on the board in the 50’ but Juan Gaete’s shot sailed just wide.

Thomas Müller subbed on in the 66’ for the Canadian side, making his tournament debut for last year’s runners-up, yet the offense couldn’t find its breakthrough moment.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC finished with 76 percent of the possession and racked up ten corner kicks in pursuit of an important away goal.

The two sides will meet in a decisive second leg next Wednesday at BC Place in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The winner on aggregate will advance to the Round of 16.
