Vancouver Whitecaps FC have acquired center back Sebastián Ramírez on loan from Colombian top-flight side Fortaleza CEIF, the club announced Thursday.

The 20-year-old Colombian youth international's loan lasts through June 2027 and includes a purchase option. 

“Sebastián is a young, defensively minded player who has emerged as a key contributor for Fortaleza,” said sporting director Axel Schuster.

“He brings a strong balance of aggression and awareness to defensive situations, while also offering versatility across multiple positions. We’re excited to welcome Sebastián to the group and look forward to supporting his continued development.” 

A product of Fortaleza's academy, Ramírez has three goals in 46 appearances for Los Amix. 

Internationally, the Miami-born Ramírez has featured four times for Colombia's U-20s.

“I’m very excited to have arrived at Whitecaps FC. It is a great opportunity for me to grow and I’m looking forward to giving my best to help the team,” said Ramírez.
