Murilo Dourado hails goal on Fluminense Under-20 debut: “Always positive”

Fluminense secured their fourth straight win in the Carioca Under-20 Championship by finding the net five times in 20 minutes in the seventh round. The fourth goal in the 5-1 comeback win over Sampaio Corrêa came from debutant Murilo Dourado, who was brought on in the second half of last Saturday’s match (09/19).

“I’m very happy with the comeback win. We knew it would be a tough match, ever since the coach’s pre-match talk, but we had a good second half. I was really eager to train with the squad and with the boys I already knew. Making my debut with a goal is always very positive,” said the player. “I was ready from the moment I was called up for the match, aware that the chance to come on might arise. It was just two or three training sessions, but I was feeling positive and believed I would have a good game,” Murilo said.

A two-time Brazilian Under-20 champion with Palmeiras in 2024 and 2025, Murilo Dourado signed with his new club through 2028. The 19-year-old signing gained national attention as Palmeiras’ top scorer in the runner-up campaign in the 2024 Brazilian Under-17 Championship, losing the title to Fluminense themselves, the same year he won the Ecuador Youth Cup. The youngster from Panorama, São Paulo, also stood out in the 2022 São Paulo State Under-15 title-winning campaign.
