Murilo extends Palmeiras contract to 2029 and says he feels at home | OneFootball

Palmeiras have agreed a new deal with defender Murilo to December 2029, extending a contract that had run to the end of 2027. Since joining in 2022 he has won eight titles and become a dressing-room leader.

According to Nosso Palestra, talks began in June and were concluded swiftly. The 29-year-old has made 234 appearances for the club and said he aims to keep increasing that tally and move among Palmeiras’ most-used players.

As well as his defensive work, he has scored 24 goals, the fourth-highest total by a defender in the club’s history. In 2022 he struck 11, matching Gustavo Gómez for the most by a Palmeiras defender in a single season.

He has captained the side in five matches this season and is second for armband use in 2026, behind Gustavo Gómez. He also underlined close bonds in the squad, citing a close friendship with Khellven after building a strong bond with Endrick.

As part of the renewal he welcomed family to the Academia de Futebol and credited his wife, parents and son as his main motivation. He voiced deep gratitude to Palmeiras for the way the club has shaped his life.

Since his arrival he has 142 wins, 62 draws and 29 defeats. Individually, he was named in the CBF Brasileirão Team of the Year in 2022 and won the Bola de Prata in 2022 and 2023.
