Sport BILD reports that RB Leipzig have basically agreed personal terms with Nadiem Amiri and talks with Mainz are very advanced, but the move is on hold.

The holdup is not competition for his position, rather the overall size of coach Martin Demichelis' squad.

Leipzig want departures before any arrival, with 26-year-old Eljif Elmas among those who could be moved on.

It is a similar story with Fisnik Asllani of TSG Hoffenheim. With Rômulo and Conrad Harder already contesting the lone striker role, one may have to go.

If the club trim numbers, Amiri's switch could be revived.
