In spite of a busy summer of transfers, Manchester United fans are already dreaming of how their team can be improved in future windows.
The Red Devils have started the season rather poorly, crashing out of the Carabao cup to Grimsby Town and losing three out of their first six league matches.
Most fans accept that the club could improve dramatically in the midfield department but they also struggle in the wing back position.
Ruben Amorim may not have long left in the job but one of his biggest problems at Old Trafford has been that the club has barely any specialised attacking wing backs.
Early last year, United were chasing Sporting CP’s Geovany Quenda who fits the bill but Chelsea managed to sneak in and do a deal right under United’s noses.
As a result, the Red Devils have had to be play more defensive players by nature with Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot often playing at right wing back. Patrick Dorgu was also brought in last winter but often struggles with consistency in the attacking part of his role at left wing back.
TBR Football report that “Manchester City and Manchester United are keeping close tabs on the situation of Argentine international Nahuel Molina.”
The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour with Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid and despite staying in the summer to fight for his place, it looks like he will not be successful with just one start all season.
Molina is likely to be available in January and the site “can also confirm that Manchester United sources suggest that they could be in the market for a new wing-back and Molina is on their radar too.”
Nonetheless, United will face competition from their local rivals City as Molina is also on their sporting director’s list.
The Argentine defender could be a shrewd signing as he has ample experience playing as a wing back or in a traditional back four.
He is also strong on the ball and a balanced player with good attacking and defensive output for club and country.
