Despite relegation to Ligue 2, FC Nantes are holding firm on their €40m valuation of Matthis Abline (23), as per a report from L’Équipe.

Abline was the subject of interest last summer. The France youth international was notably linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, however, a move did not come off, with Les Canaris’ valuation proving too high to be met.

Paris FC were also an interested party, but once again, the price tag, situated between €40-50m, was prohibitive. Nantes will play in Ligue 2 next season, but they are holding firm. Nantes want a fee close to €40m. That is despite relegation and Abline’s middling form last season (34 games, eight goals, seven assists).

As per L’Équipe, AS Monaco have already seen a €20m bid rejected for the striker. Paris FC are also set to reignite their interest, although the publication adds that they are not prepared to offer a “crazy” sum. Abline would be open to a move to the Stade Jean Bouin, but it remains to be seen whether Paris FC have the means to pull off a deal. The club’s budget, the publication adds, is €50m, whilst there are other deals that they are looking to complete.
