According to a report from Foot Mercato, FC Nantes are interested in trying to convince RC Strasbourg to part ways with Abakar Sylla (22) on a six-month loan.
La Maison Jaune have been searching for a replacement centre-back to cover for Nathan Zézé (19) who is set to miss a major part of the remaining season following a fracture to his left malleolus. This search has led them to Sylla.
The centre-back could prove to be an ambitious target for Nantes as he was recruited by Strasbourg for €20 million in the summer of 2023 from Club Brugge. However, Sylla has dropped down the pecking order this season under Liam Rosenior.
The English head coach favours a partnership of Mamadou Sarr (who despite being close to a transfer to Chelsea should see out the rest of the season in France) and Ismaël Doukouré. Foot Mercato writes that Nantes will hope that this will be enough to convince Strasbourg to allow the defender to find more playing time.
