Sorba Thomas’ (26) loan spell at FC Nantes can’t be deemed a failure but nor can it be deemed a success. The Wales international has featured regularly for Les Canaris, making 23 appearances across all competitions, including 11 starts in Ligue 1. However, he has been far from prolific, scoring just once and registering just two assists.
The Wales international joined the Ligue 1 side on loan from EFL League One side Huddersfield Town at the start of the season. The winger’s loan deal included the option to make the move permanent for a fee of €4m. However, L’Équipe report that there is no guarantee that Nantes will exercise that option to buy, nor can the possibility be excluded.
Thomas’ future is therefore uncertain as the end of the season nears. Meschack Elia is also in a similar position. He joined from Young Boys BSC on loan with an option to buy for €3m. A decision has not been made on his future either.
