Nàstic de Tarragona have signed teenage goalkeeper Juanki from CD Castellón, extending a run of additions linked to sporting director Tomeu Nadal.

CD Castellón announced on Sunday that an agreement was in place for the transfer of Juan Carlos Ferrando, known as Juanki, born in 2006 in Benicàssim, bringing his time with the B team to a close.

Nadal spent last season within Castellón’s sporting structure, with a prominent role tracking the reserve side. That insight is now shaping Nàstic’s market moves as they prepare for another campaign in Primera RFEF.

Attacking midfielder Carlos Segura and midfielder Toni Gabarri have also arrived from Castellón’s reserves, who will again compete in Segunda RFEF. They join Pere Marco, who featured for Castellón before heading to Tarragona after a couple of loans.

Juanki joined Castellón’s Juvenil A in 2022/23, left, then returned last summer to step up to Castellón B with the aim of developing in Segunda RFEF. He made seven competitive appearances, with Sergi Torner the regular starter.

Competition limited his minutes, but the Benicàssim-born keeper remained among the academy’s higher-upside prospects, which prompted Nàstic’s move. Nadal’s familiarity with the player and others from the orellut set-up has proved decisive.
