National League Cup Final Preview: Sutton United vs Leeds United U21s | OneFootball

The stage is set for Tuesday’s National League Cup Final which will see Leeds United Under-21s do battle with Sutton United at the VBS Community Stadium to be crowned inaugural winners of the competition.

The Whites have impressed during the tournament so far, collecting impressive victories over Boston United and Gateshead away from home in the group stage, as well as edging past FC Halifax Town on penalties at The Shay.

Despite a narrow defeat to Tamworth, Scott Gardner’s side still progressed to the knockout rounds where they travelled to take on Aldershot Town in the quarter-finals.

Behind at the break, a brace from Rhys Chadwick and thunderous volley from Oliver Pickles sealed victory in Hampshire, setting up a final four encounter with Altrincham last time out.

United were again impressive at The J. Davidson Stadium, with strikes from Diogo Monteiro and Josh McDonald either side of the break booking the Whites’ spot in the final of the competition.

Following relegation from Sky Bet League Two last campaign, Sutton United have struggled for consistency as they looked to bounce back from the Vanarama National League under former Leeds striker Steve Morison, sitting 13th in the standings.

In the National League Cup, however, the London outfit have enjoyed more success and were victorious over Braintree Town in their semi-final after penalties.
