National teammate confirms Arsenal star is struggling with an injury

A few days ago, Norway faced Portugal, and Bernardo Silva made a late, needless tackle on Martin Odegaard that has now left the Arsenal midfielder injured. The Portuguese star could have been sent off for the offence, but he was not, frustrating Arsenal and Norway supporters. The former Manchester City midfielder also appeared to show no remorse for the challenge, which added to the anger surrounding the incident.

Arsenal will be concerned about Odegaard’s condition, particularly because he struggled with injuries last season and had started this campaign in excellent form. He has been one of their most important performers since the beginning of the season, and the club will not want to lose him for any length of time.

Odegaard Feels the Effects

After being caught on the ankle by Silva, Odegaard continued playing for Norway. However, he appeared to feel the effects of the challenge after the match, with his national team-mate confirming that the midfielder is not comfortable at present.

Torbjorn Heggem said via Football London:

“We can all see that Martin is struggling now. It’s not something we want on the field, that people get injured. I haven’t spoken to him now, but hopefully he’ll be fine and can play the next two games.”

Heggem’s comments will concern Arsenal, as Odegaard has been brilliant since the start of the season. The club will want to learn more about the severity of the injury before determining whether he can return to action safely.

Arsenal Face Midfield Concern

The timing is particularly difficult for Arsenal because they are already behind Manchester City in the title race. They cannot afford to lose one of their most influential players, especially while trying to maintain their challenge at the top of the table.

Odegaard’s creativity, leadership and ability to control matches make him a central figure in the Arsenal team. If he is forced to miss upcoming games, the club will need another midfielder to assume greater responsibility.
