Odegaard slams Bernardo Silva for tackle on him but eases injury concerns | OneFootball

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has hit out at Bernardo Silva after a challenge during Norway’s 2-1 Nations League defeat to Portugal.

The incident came in the third minute of second-half stoppage time in Oslo, with Odegaard angered by the Real Madrid midfielder’s tackle after he had already released the ball.

“It’s a head fog from him, he just kicks me down long after I’ve played the ball away,” Odegaard told TV2.

“I don’t understand what he’s doing. It does not belong on a football pitch. It’s a shame that people do that.”

Odegaard was visibly furious after the challenge and confronted Silva immediately afterwards.

Asked what he had said to the Portugal international, the Norway captain replied: “I don’t think we should say that on TV.”

Odegaard also offered an update on the knock he sustained, expressing hope that the problem will not prove serious.

“It probably won’t be good tonight, but I’m hopeful it will be fine in the next few days,” he said.

Silva, meanwhile, played down the incident when asked about the challenge afterwards.

“It’s football, my friend,” he told reporters, according to Norwegian outlet VG.
