Danilo Pereira says Corinthians made contact recently and believes the talks were in the last window. The 27-year-old forward plays for NEC Nijmegen.
"I spoke with them, I think in the last transfer window if I am not mistaken. There was a possibility, but only God knows. It would be an honour," he told ESPN.
On loan from Rangers until the end of June, he made 11 appearances and scored one goal as NEC finished third, earning a place in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, the club’s first. They were also runners-up in the national cup.
"It would be an honour, but of course I have family now, my wife is from here in the Netherlands and my children are being raised in Europe. But who knows, in the future, if there is an opportunity to return and fulfil that dream of playing in Brazil." He added he feels well settled in European football.
He came through at Corinthians then Vasco da Gama, Ponte Preta and Santos, and developed in the Netherlands with Ajax, Twente and Feyenoord before joining Rangers in 2023. He is under contract until May 2028, after 31 appearances and four goals last season. "I like Yuri Alberto a lot, his mentality and persistence, the nose for goals and the will to win," Pereira said.
