Racing Club Strasbourg Alsace are set to appoint former Heart of Midlothian head coach Neil Critchley as Gary O’Neil’s assistant coach, according to L’Equipe. The former Wolverhampton Wanderers had an excellent start to life since he replaced Chelsea-bound Liam Rosenior in the dugout at La Meinau. Strasbourg have won three games on the bounce, including a remarkable 4-1 away win over Lille.
Neil Critchley notably oversaw two games as Liverpool stand-in head coach in the Cups due to Jürgen Klopp’s Reds’ fixture congestion during the 2019-20 season. Critchley then joined Blackpool and agreed to become Steven Gerrard’s assistant during the latter’s brief tenure as Aston Villa manager.
L’Equipe also reports that Strasbourg have poached former Bristol City First Team’s Physical Performance coach Derrick Bonsu from Queens Park Rangers. Strasbourg host Ligue 1 leaders PSG on Saturday.
