Nerea Nevado has chosen Milan, with the 25-year-old left-back set to travel to Italy in the coming days to sign her contract, according to as.com. The Athletic Club defender attracted interest from Real Madrid, Atlético and Paris FC, but Milan’s sporting and financial proposal convinced her.

It was not an easy call after a decade at Athletic Club, the club of her life. Last season the Basque side activated a clause to extend her deal by one year.

In the months that followed, Real Madrid, Atlético, Paris FC, Benfica, Juventus and Hoffenheim all explored a move. Milan won the race with one of the most significant offers in their project, convinced she can be a difference-maker in the push towards Europe’s elite.

In Milan they view Nevado as more than a full-back, valuing her character and personality as much as her game. Raised at Lezama and forged in the intensity of Basque football, she arrives ready for one of the continent’s most storied stages.

Women’s Serie A gains a high-level addition and Milan signal clear intent to compete with Europe’s heavyweights. This season she played 2,366 minutes across 31 matches, scoring four goals and providing one assist.
