The future of Manuel Neuer at FC Bayern remains unclear – despite new reports that a contract extension has allegedly been agreed. According to the Abendzeitung München newspaper, Neuer is said to have already decided to extend his contract with the German record champions until 2027. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano also reported that Bayern are optimistic and are simply waiting for the „green light“ from the goalkeeper. A contract ready to be signed is said to already exist

However, Munich themselves have been much more reserved, with sporting director Christoph Freund reacting to the reports with surprise and clarifying: „This is the first time I’ve heard this, I don’t know where this information is coming from,“ explained the Austrian at the press conference ahead of the Bundesliga match in Mainz

Particularly interesting: According to Freund, there has not even been a final discussion between the club and the player yet. „We are in the middle of April, there has not yet been a discussion with him.“

The 47-year-old thus clearly contradicts the reports that a decision has already been made and makes it clear that nothing is fixed in this personnel matter

Neuer hints at extension

Neuer himself recently hinted that an extension is on the horizon. After the cup semi-final against Bayer Leverkusen, the 40-year-old explained: „I’m not going to announce anything at the moment – but it looks good at the moment.“

A clear decision could not be deduced from this, but the tendency was already pointing in the direction of staying

Despite the contradictory statements, the situation at Säbener Straße does not appear tense. Internally, Neuer is still regarded as a central figure – both in sporting terms and as a leading player
